So, you have a certificate program—but does it meet the Standards to be called an assessment-based certificate (ABC) program? This workshop will guide you through the process of designing an ABC program that meets ACAP (ICE 1100) accreditation standards.
- Utilize backward design to develop an ABC program.
- Establish clear connections between needs analysis or JTA, education/training, and assessment.
- Understand the critical elements of an ABC design document.
- Learn the importance of documenting program decisions, justifications, and rationales.
- Review essential documentation for program design, development, delivery, and ongoing maintenance.
- Address challenges in retrofitting ABC programs to align with the ICE 1100 Standard.

To earn accreditation for assessment based certificate programs, the program must follow The ICE 1100:2019 Standard to demonstrate the design, delivery, maintenance, and use of certificates follow high-quality standards. This workshop will review the Essential Elements of the ICE 1100 standards and how to align the standards in your program design, calling out specific documentation along the way.

Bobbi Vernon, Senior Director of Learning and Development at Global Skills X-Change (GSX), brings 25 years of expertise in learning experience design. She integrates human-centered design, change management, and business process improvement into training, curriculum development, LMS administration, and certification program management. A dedicated I.C.E. volunteer, she has served as a reviewer and Chair for the Assessment-Based Certificate Accreditation Council (ACAC) and is currently serving a second term on the Accreditation Services Council. Bobbi holds the Expert Coach designation from ATD, the ICE-CCP from I.C.E., and is a Prosci-certified change practitioner.
