Get Approved For Funding
GI Bill Funding
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), through the GI Bill, provides eligible Service members and Veterans with financial assistance for licensing and certification. Specifically, it will pay for up to $2,000 per test for an unlimited number of test. If your organization wants to be approved so that Service members and Veterans may receive reimbursement through the GI Bill for exam fees, you need to seek approval from the State Approving Agency in the State for where the headquarters of your organization is located.
Services’ Credential Program Funding
Each of the Military Services has a credentialing program through which it pays for certain fees related to certification and licensure and each has its own policy regarding what types of related costs are paid for. The credentials each Service will pay for are shown on each of the Services’ Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (COOL) websites, which can be accessed from DoD COOL.
COOL’s Research Related Credentials feature can help you determine whether your organization’s credentials are already on COOL, and if not, how to inquire about having them added and/or funded. Credentials included on COOL are analyzed carefully and must be relevant to a military or civilian occupation and meet COOL standards. Credentials that are listed on COOL are reviewed on an ongoing basis to determine whether they remain relevant and continue to meet COOL standards.
To use this tool, follow the link above and search for your credential or agency name. Results will be populated below a table format, which you can review to determine if your credentials are already listed on at least one of the military Services’ COOL websites.
IF YOUR CREDENTIALS ARE NOT ALREADY ON COOL and you would like them to be considered for inclusion and/or funding, you can submit an inquiry/recommendation via a COOL Contact form.
Service Credentialing Payment Policies

These policies are subject to periodic changes.
